Fixed version of the Payroll Tax Form Worksheets workbook template
The QuickBooks Tax Form Worksheets in Excel template workbook shipped with QuickBooks 2022 & 2023 and Enterprise 22.0 & 23.0 does not actually work with these versions of QuickBooks. Also, even when updated to a working version, when there are issues with the connection, often those issues are hidden and it is not clear what is happening.
The Tax Form Worksheet reports won’t work at all with these QuickBooks versions unless you have a payroll subscription. This is because when you update the tax files for the payroll subscription the workbook is then upgraded.
At the same time, a significant reason the Tax Form Worksheet reports are useful – per Intuit – is for exactly the case where the customer doesn’t have a payroll subscription!
As of April 2023, customers have waited nearly two years for a fix and none seems forthcoming.
So, we fixed the connection issue behavior and are providing a version of the workbook here that will work with both QuickBooks 2023 & 2022 and Enterprise 22.0 & 23.0 – with or without a payroll subscription.
This fixed template is free to download and use. There is no need to purchase or register.
However, please consider sending a small $10 thank-you. This will help motivate us to keep the template up to date and to improve it for modern versions of Excel.
For QuickBooks 2022 & 2023 and Enterprise 22.0 & 23.0 (& newer QuickBooks versions):
- Download and open the ZIP file to access the updated template.
- Read the included Readme file for simple instructions to use the fixed template instead of Intuit’s broken template.
- You can also integrate the updated file with the QuickBooks user interface so it will appear on the menu other payroll reports. See the image below. Instructions are included in the Readme file.
